Tom Rowlands, one-half of electro-duo The Chemical Brothers, will compose original music for Joe Wright's production of Life of Galileo.

The pair have worked together before, collaborating on the 2011 film Hanna, which starred Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana. Rowlands' soundtrack won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Music Score in 2011.

On working with Wright again, Rowlands said: "When Joe approached me with the idea I was excited at the thought of doing something totally new.

"I was also happy to rekindle my creative collaboration with Joe as he always makes something inspiring and stimulating."

The play, which stars Brendan Cowell (Yerma), is about Galileo's newly invented telescope with which he makes revelatory discoveries about the planets.

The Young Vic has also announced that the run of the play has extended to 1 July.

Life of Galileo runs at the Young Vic from 16 May to 1 July, with previews form 6 May.
