Sweat to transfer to the West End following five-star Donmar Warehouse run

The five-star London production of Sweat, Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, is to transfer to the West End.
Sweat opened at the Donmar Warehouse at the end of 2018 in a production directed by Lynette Linton. The piece starred Martha Plimpton, who will reprise her role as Tracey. Further casting is yet to be announced.
The piece garnered rave reviews after its initial run, with WhatsOnStage's Sarah Crompton giving it five stars and calling it a 'a skilful piece of theatre'.
Running at the Gielgud Theatre in June, the show will have 50 performances only. It opens in previews from 7 June and runs to 20 July.
Nottage said: "I'm beyond thrilled that this beautiful and haunting production of Sweat will have the opportunity to be in dialogue with a larger audience in the West End."
The play was created after Nottage spent time with the people of Reading, Pennsylvania – one of the poorest cities in the USA. It's centered around factory workers and explores relationships, resentments and fears of a community divided.
Design for the show is by Frankie Bradshaw, with lighting by Oliver Fenwick, sound and compostion by George Dennis, movement by Polly Bennett, video by Gino Ricardo Green and fight direction from Kate Waters.
