Strictly Ballroom the Musical to close in the West End

Closing dates have been announced for Strictly Ballroom the Musical in the West End.
Directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, the show originally opened at West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2016, before opening in a re-worked version in the West End in April this year. The show will close on 27 October.
The musical is an adaptation of Australian film director Baz Luhrmann's 1992 cult classic film Strictly Ballroom, the show was created by Luhrmann who originally devised the story for the stage before he made it into a film.
Terry Johnson adapted the book and songs included in the show are "Love is in the Air", "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" and "Time After Time".
Will Young originally played the part of bandleader Wally Strand in the London run, and Matt Cardle took over the role on 31 July. Other cast members include Zizi Strallen and Jonny Labey. Sarah Crompton gave the show four stars in her review for WhatsOnStage.
Producers of the show said today: "We are immensely proud of the production, led by our hugely talented cast and creative team, and have been thrilled by the standing ovations that audiences have responded with night after night. We would like to thank everyone involved for bringing this joyous new musical to the stage."
