A new production of Stephen Sondheim revue Marry Me A Little, which was last seen in London in 1997, will play at the St James Studio from 29 July to 10 August 2014.

First seen in 1980, Marry Me A Little is themed around issues of love, loneliness and survival as a modern singleton.

Two single strangers, left alone in their studio apartments on a Saturday night, pass their time with sweetly secret, unshared fantasies, never knowing that they're just a floor away from each other.

Conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, the show features songs written early in Sondheim's career from musicals including A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Company, Follies and A Little Night Music.

Marry Me a Little was last seen in London 17 years ago at the Bridewell Theatre in a production starring Clive Carter and Rebecca Front.

Casting for the St James production, which is directed by Hannah Chissick with musical direction by David Randall, is still to be announced.

The St James' main house recently staged a production of another Sondheim revue, Putting it Together.
