Members of the cast of the upcoming UK tour of The Producers crashed the UKIP party conference in Margate this morning, performing "Springtime for Hitler" as delegates arrived.

Dressed in Nazi costumes and riding a Second World War tank, the troupe performed outside the Winter Gardens, where the conference is being held this weekend.

Members of the party were said to be "left open-mouthed" as the Mel Brooks song was played from a PA system whilst the dancers performed a choreographed routine.

The company are in Margate to promote the start of the tour, which stars comedians Jason Manford, Phill Jupitus and Ross Noble, as well as Louie Spence, Cory English, David Bedella and Tiffany Graves, in Bromley next week.

Producer Adam Spiegel said: "I'm disappointed but not entirely surprised to see that UKIP are trying to hitch a publicity ride on the back of the show."
