Paul McGann will star in a revival of Gabriel by Moira Buffini.

Best known for screen roles in Withnail and I, Doctor Who and The Monocled Mutineer, McGann's theatre credits include Helen at Shakespeare's Globe and Butley in the West End.

Directed by Kate McGregor (Moments, Chichester Festival Theatre), the cast also includes Robin Morrissey (The Government Inspector, Birmingham Rep), Sarah Schoenbeck (The Breadwinner, Orange Tree Theatre), and Venice van Someren (Thérèse Raquin, Southwark Playhouse).

First performed at the Soho Theatre in 1997, Gabriel is based in 1943 Nazi-occupied Guernsey and tells the story of a widow who does whatever it takes to keep her adolescent children safe on an island filled with danger and fear.

Gabriel opens in Richmond on 28 March and tours to Liverpool, Cardiff, Windsor and Guildford.
