Images have been released offering a first look at the cast of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies, which opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory next week.

Directed by Hannah Chissick, the cast features Finty Williams and Jasper Britton alongside Alasdair Harvey, Chris Larkin, Macy Nyman, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Sia Dauda and Natalie Walter.

Whitemore's play – which premiered at the Lyric in 1983 starring Judi Dench and Michael Williams (parents of Finty Williams) – is inspired by real-life events and tells of a middle-aged couple whose best friends are their Canadian neighbours. When a detective asks to use their house while he watches a Soviet spy ring, the Jacksons are forced to decide whether to betray their friends or their country.

Whitemore – who died this year in July at the age of 82 – adapted Pack of Lies from Act of Betrayal which was part of the Play for Today television series.

The production has design by Paul Farnsworth, lighting by Paul Anderson and sound by Jonathan Everett.
