Steffan Lloyd-Evans is about to open in National Theatre of Scotland's The 306: Dawn, which runs at Perth Concert Hall from 24 May – 11 June.

His recent theatre credits include Beyond the Fence, The World Goes Round and Only the Brave.

We caught up with Steffan and asked hun: "If you were stranded on a desert island which five showtunes could you not live without?"

1. "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" from Guys and Dolls

Without a doubt one of the best songs in a musical ever! Humour, storytelling, full choral singing and a long list of incredible performances. Can't help but smile when I listen to it.

2. "I Believe" from The Book of Mormon

Anything that makes me laugh is a winner and the whole show absolutely does it for me. This number is my favourite – genius lyric writing with some cracking singing combined mean it's one I always come back to.

3. "Boy with Dreams" from Edges

Such a beautiful number about someone who has amazing aspirations and an incredible desire to see them realised. It reminds me of my passion for what I do and why I do it so it's become invaluable to me.

4. "Not a Day Goes By" from Merrily We Roll Along

This song breaks my heart. The context of the song within the show is utterly heartbreaking, and for me; playing Frank and having an incredible actress sing that to me taught me so much about the consequences of certain life choices.

5. "Make Our Garden Grow" from Candide

My standout favourite of the five. It is the most incredibly written piece of music and I never tire of it. The simplicity of the message is so incredibly powerful and it reminds me of what's really important in my life.

"Let dreamers dream
What worlds they please
Those Edens can't be found.
The sweetest flowers,
The fairest trees
Are grown in solid ground."
