The Menier Chocolate Factory's production of Candide has added eight additional performances, extending to 1 March 2014.

Leonard Bernstein's musical tells the story of a young man determined to follow his instructor's creed of mindless optimism. Even after being banished from his homeland, captured by Bulgarians, beaten by the Spanish Inquisition, robbed of everything he owns, and torn repeatedly from the woman he loves, Candide still clings to the Panglossian belief that everything is for the best in this, "the best of all possible worlds".

Matthew White's production opened at the Menier in November last year, and features in the cast Fra Fee as Candide, WhatsOnStage Award-nominated James Dreyfus and Scarlett Strallen, plus Cassidy Janson, David Thaxton and Jackie Clune, among others.

The show features choreography by Adam Cooper, with set and costume design by Paul Farnsworth, lighting design by Paul Anderson, sound design by Gareth Owen and musical direction by Seann Alderking.
