New production of Macbeth performed in darkness

London Contemporary Theatre stages its new innovative production of Shakespeare’s tragedy just in time for Halloween

The London Contemporary Theatre will their upcoming tour of Macbeth: In Pitch Black beginning at the end of this month.

The London Contemporary Theatre Company returns to the stage after their successful 2013 tour and run at the London St. James Theatre. They intend to bring their interpretation of Shakespeare's first ghostly tragedy Macbeth to life by staging it in the round, but all performances will be in the dark.

Kevin Williams, the associate director of the London Contemporary Theatre company, will direct this contemporary tale. According to press, "Macbeth’s confusion and ever increasing hopelessness is heightened in this eerie portrayal of Shakespeare’s greatest ghost story".

Leading the cast are Calum Hughes McIntosh as Macbeth, Claire Cartwright as Lady Macbeth, Richard Holt as Banquo, Andrew Chase as MacDuff,Samuel Freeman as Malcom.

Macbeth: In Pitch Black will premiere at The Place in Bedford on 31 October 2014 before going on tour around the UK ending on 19 November at the Haverhill Arts Centre. There will be a press night on 5 November at The Pleasance in Islington.
