London Palladium to stage first panto in 29 years

”Cinderella” will be staged at the theatre at Christmas marking the first pantomime at the venue in nearly three decades

A production of Cinderella has been announced to open at the London Palladium this Christmas.

The show, which will run from 9 December 2016 until 5 January 2017, will mark the first pantomime at the theatre in 29 years. The last panto at the London venue was Babes in the Wood in 1987 which starred Barbara Windsor, Cannon & Ball and Rod Hull and Emu.

The classic rags-to-riches tale will be brought to the stage by Qdos Entertainment who have produced over 650 pantomimes. Chairman Nick Thomas commented:

"We are thrilled to be bringing pantomime back following an absence of nearly three decades with a sumptuous production that befits The Palladium's role as the home of pantomime in London."

Cinderella will be co-directed by Gypsy producer Michael Harrison and Mrs Henderson Presents choreographer Andrew Wright.

Casting is yet to be announced.
