Is a Labyrinth musical in the works?

The son of the late Jim Henson has confirmed that a screen to stage adaptation is in the works

Labyrinth

Jim Henson's 1986 film Labyrinth, about a 15 year-old's quest to reach the centre of a maze to rescue her brother from the Goblin King, is apparently being adapted into a musical.

Talking to Forbes, Jim Henson's son and CEO of the Henson Company, Brian Henson said: "We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage... but I certainly don't have a timeline."

The film, which starred Jennifer Connolly and David Bowie, was initially a box office flop but has since become a cult classic. It featured five songs penned by Bowie, "Underground", "Magic Dance", "Chilly Down", "As the World Falls Down" and "Within You".

We could just imagine a brilliant collaboration with War Horse puppeteers Gyre & Gimble and a return to London for Michael C Hall who played the lead in the recent David Bowie musical Lazarus.
