Joanna Riding is to host this year's Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award and the 12th annual Stiles and Drewe Prize.

The gala will take place at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 9 June, with Chris Hocking returning to direct. There will be a guest performance by last year's winner Alex Cardall.

The annual Stephen Sondheim Society prize is co-produced by the organisation with Mercury Musical Developments and sees twelve of the top student performers from musical theatre and drama schools in the UK perform a song by Sondheim as well as a new musical theatre song.

The prize is £1,000 and is judged by Edward Seckerson, Julia McKenzie and Peter Polycarpou.

The Stiles and Drewe Prize supports and develops new musical theatre writing and recognises an outstanding song from a new musical. The winner receives £1,000 to put towards developing their work. It is judged by Stiles and Drewe alongside Nkeki Obi-Melekwe
