Initial casting announced for It Happened in Key West and first listen

Broadway actor Wade McCollum will star in the world premiere of It Happened in Key West, which opens at the Charing Cross Theatre in July.

Based on a true story, McCollum – whose credits include Wicked on Broadway as well as Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Hedwig and the Angry Inch – will play an eccentric scientist who digs up the body of his dead beloved in an attempt to bring her back to life.

It Happened in Key West has a book, music and lyrics by Jill Santoriello (A Tale of Two Cities), book and additional lyrics by Jason Huza and book and original concept by Jeremiah James.

It will be directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, with designs by Jamie Roderick, sound by Andrew Johnson, costume by Lisa Zinni, musical direction by Andrew Hopkins, orchestrations by Robert Felstein, and casting by Neil Rutherford. Further casting is to be announced.
