According to an interview with The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey, a sequel is already being planned for The Greatest Showman.

Speaking to The Sun, Gracey said that "discussions have started and we are working on one right now."

The musical film starring Hugh Jackman, which explores the life and fortunes of the circus entertainer PT Barnum, first premiered at the end of 2017, and went on to be a box office smash, making $435 million worldwide. It features music by hit composers Pasek and Paul, responsible for musicals such as Dear Evan Hansen, Dogfight and A Christmas Story.

Gracey continued: "When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it's only natural there is demand for a sequel."

It is unknown when production for the new film might begin, and whether or not it will be set before or after the events of The Greatest Showman.

Jackman is about to embark on a worldwide tour, with stops in London, Birmingham Glasgow and Manchester.
