Watch Gloria Estefan and Christie Prades introduce On Your Feet! to the UK
The musical, which tells the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, is to run at the London Coliseum from 14 June to 31 August. Prior to this, there will be performances at Curve, Leicester from 3 to 8 June. Following its London run the piece will also head out on tour.
Leading the cast as Gloria Estefan will be Christie Prades. Prades played the role on Broadway and is currently in the US tour of the show. Other credits include Vanessa in In the Heights and West Side Story. George Ioannides, who has starred in Annie and Mamma Mia!, will play Emilio Estefan.
The show is directed by Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), with choreography from Sergio Trujillo. On Your Feet! has a book from Alexander Dinelaris, who wrote the film Birdman, and features songs by the Estefans including "Rhythm is Gonna Get You", "Conga", "Get On Your Feet", "Don't Want To Lose You" and "1-2-3".
The piece tells the love story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan and charts their journey from Cuba, to Miami and beyond.
