Carey Mulligan will perform Dennis Kelly's Girls and Boys for a limited five-week run in New York this summer, as the piece transfers across the Atlantic following its world premiere at London's Royal Court earlier this year.

Directed by Lyndsey Turner (Chimerica), Kelly's monologue premiered in February and follows a woman who describes her romantic life after meeting a man in an airport and falling for him.

The show will run at the Minetta Lane Theatre, and marks Mulligan's first return to the New York stage since David Hare's Skylight opened at the John Golden Theater in 2015.

In her review of the Royal Court run, critic Sarah Crompton said Mulligan delivered Kelly's text 'with the skill and timing of a stand-up comic' and that the show is 'not a fairy tale of romance fulfilled.'

The creative team for Girls and Boys includes Es Devlin (set design), Jack Galloway (costume design), Luke Halls (video design), Oliver Fenwick (lighting design), David McSeveney (sound design), and Joseph Alford (movement).

Audible will also record and release Mulligan's performance as an audio play, having previously done the same thing with the current production of Harry Clarke starring Lucille Lortel and Billy Crudup and also with Judith Light's All the Ways to Say I Love You. Audible subscribers are eligible for exclusive discounted $69 tickets to the production.
