The hit Broadway production of Frozen is due to arrive in the UK.

The show, which is an adaptation of Disney's animated film, will arrive at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in autumn 2020.

Frozen will reopen the recently closed West End theatre, which is undergoing a £45 million refurbishment and renovation project.

The new production is directed by Michael Grandage with set and costume designs by Christopher Oram, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and choreography by Rob Ashford. Sound design is by Peter Hylenski, video design by Finn Ross, puppet design by Michael Curry, and musical supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus.

Music and lyrics for the musical are from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and the piece has book by Jennifer Lee.

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show originally opened on Broadway in March 2018 and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Musical.

As well as the London production, there is also a North America tour planned for autumn 2019 and productions opening in Australia and Hamburg in 2021.

Dates, casting and performance schedule are yet to be announced.

Grandage said today: "Bringing Frozen to the stage has been a gloriously happy journey. We're all looking forward to getting back in the room together as a creative team, to build our London company."

Anderson-Lopez and Lopez said: "The power of Frozen comes from the story of two strong, very real women saving their world by leaning in to their deep love for one another. Expanding this story has been an absolute joy. We went deeper and discovered several song moments that enrich the story in a new emotional and theatrical way."
