Further casting announced for Apologia

Jamie Lloyd directs Alexi Kaye Campbell’s dark comedy

Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman will join the previously announced Stockard Channing in a new production of Apologia.

Agyeman played Martha Jones alongside David Tennant in Doctor Who and can currently be seen as Amanita in the Netflix drama Sense8.

On joining the cast, she said: "I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the cast of Apologia. It's right up my street and had me roaring with laughter! It's fun. It's clever. It's deeply insightful.

"I feel I couldn't be in safer, more experienced hands for my theatre debut than those of Alexi Kaye Campbell and Jamie Lloyd. Or in better company than the inimitable Stockard Channing!"

Also starring in the piece, which originally opened in 2008 at the Bush Theatre, will be Olivier nominated Desmond Barrit (Henry IV Parts I and II) and Joseph Millson (The Last Kingdom).

Directed by Jamie Lloyd – who returns to Trafalgar Studios following productions of The Homecoming and The MaidsAlexi Kaye Campbell's play is about a matriarch of a family (Channing) who is presiding over birthday celebrations.

Apologia runs at Trafalgar Studios from 3 August to 18 November, with previews from 29 July.
