The Donmar's recent revival of Conor McPherson's The Weir will transfer to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre next year.

The production, which stars Ardal O'Hanlon, Brian Cox, Risteard Cooper, Peter McDonald and Dervla Kirwan, will open at Wyndham's on 22 January 2014 (previews from 16 January).

All the cast will reprise their roles.

Directed by Josie Rourke and designed by Tom Scutt, the production was roundly praised when it ran at the Donmar from 18 April to 8 June this year.

The play, which sees a group of Irish men tell ghost stories in order to impress a young woman, premiered in 1997 and the Donmar production represents its first major London revival.

It was followed at the Donmar by the premiere of McPherson's new play The Night Alive, which continues until 27 July.

The Weir will be the first West End transfer under Josie Rourke's tenure as artistic director of the Donmar. The 750-seat Wyndham's housed her predecessor Michael Grandage's Donmar West End season in 2008-09.

According to the Mail, £10 tickets for The Weir will be available at Wyndham's from 10am on the day of performance.
