Artistic director of the Young Vic David Lan is among those named today as part of the artistic team of the new Performing Arts Centre at the World Trade Centre in New York, which aims to be a "global, flexible, digitally connected cultural and community hub".

Lan is joined as consulting artistic director on the team by associate artistic director Lucy Sexton, theatre design consultant Andy Hayles and board member Stephen Daldry.

He will stay in his current post as artistic director of the Young Vic, a position he has held since 2000, whilst working at the PAC.

Director of the space Maggie Boepple, who held Lan at the top of her wishlist for collaborators since 2012, said: "We now have an A team in place and a vision for what should happen inside the building. The program we’ve developed will give people a reason to return to the PAC over and over."

Built as a "global center for the creation and exchange of art, ideas and culture", the PAC will produce new work with preliminary designs envisaging 550-, 250- and 150-capacity spaces that can be combined as well as having the ability to operate independently.

The idea is for the PAC to become a "cultural destination" like the Young Vic, and Lan "considers the PAC an opportunity to achieve on a larger scale what he has done at the Young Vic".

Founding board member Julie Menin added: "The eyes of the world are on Lower Manhattan, and the PAC will be one of the world's most exciting arts centers".
