Casting has been announced for Emma Rice's upcoming musical Romantics Anonymous.

Staged in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, the show will star Carly Bawden in the role of Angelique, Dominic Marsh as Jean-Rene, Joanna Riding as Mother and Magda, Marc Antolin as Ludo, Gareth Snook as Mercier and Natasha Jayetileke as Suzanna and Mimi.

Also cast are Philip Cox, Joe Evans and Lauren Samuels.

The piece has a book from Rice, with lyrics by Christopher Dimond and music from Michael Kooman. It follows Angelique, a shy chocolate maker and the awkward boss of a chocolate factory in a love story. It will be the final production directed by Rice in her role as artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe.

The piece is being presented by special arrangement with Radio Mouse Entertainment, a New York based theatre and media production company that has been developing the musical since 2014.

Rice steps down from running the theatre next year as Michelle Terry takes over as artistic director from April 2018.

Romantics Anonymous runs at Shakespeare's Globe from 27 October to 6 January with previews from 20 October.
