Cast announced for The Island Nation

Casting has been announced for Ice & Fire's production of The Island Nation at the Arcola Theatre.

Ayesha Dharker stars alongside Claire Dargo, Bally Gill, Clive Hayward, Nikki Patel and Neran Persaud in Christine Bacon's new play. Bacon is artistic director of company Ice & Fire, which was shortlisted for the Liberty Award for its contribution to building a human rights culture in the UK.

The Island Nation is set in Sri Lanka in 2009 during the civil war between the government and the Tamil Tigers. It follows a young Tamil woman who is trapped inside rebel territory and a British aid worker trying to get her out.

Ria Parry directs the world premiere of the show, which opens on October 28.

The Island Nation runs at the Arcola Theatre from 28 October to 19 November, with previews from 26 October.
