Casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Taylor Mac's Hir, which opens at the Bush Theatre in June.

Arthur Darvill will play Isaac alongside Griffyn Gilligan (Teddy Ferrara), Ashley McGuire (The Suicide), and Andy Williams (War Horse).

Best known for starring in the hit ITV series Broadchurch, Darvill was last seen on stage in the National Theatre production of Treasure Island and has other theatre credits including the West End productions of Once and Our Boys.

Directed by Nadia Fall (The Suicide, NT), Pulitzer Prize finalist Mac's play is a kitchen sink drama that challenges gender expectations and subverts all notions of the typical American family.

In his 2015 review for Theatermania during the show's run off-Broadway, David Gordon said the play was "sharp, shocking, and really, really funny."

Hir runs at the Bush Theatre from 20 June to 22 July, with previews from 15 June.
