Initial casting has been announced for Trevor Nunn's production of Fiddler on the Roof, which runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory later this year.

Andy Nyman will return to the Menier, four years after starring in Assassins, to lead the cast as Tevye. Further casting is to be announced.

Nyman's acting credits include the recent Royal Court production of Hangmen and the West End hit Ghost Stories, which he also created and starred in this year's big screen adaptation. His various TV roles include Winston Churchill in Peaky Blinders and he has frequently collaborated with illusionist Derren Brown, co-writing and co-directing four of his stage shows.

Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein's musical follows Tevye, a milk-maker who lives on a farm with his wife and five daughters. It features numbers including "Sunrise, Sunset", "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker",

It was last seen in London in 2007, with a major revival occurring last year at the Chichester Festival Theatre. This new version will run from 23 November until 9 March.

The venue is currently hosting the UK premiere of Hamilton parody, Spamilton, before a revival of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies.
