Andrew Scott: 'Benedict Cumberbatch saw my Hamlet, but we haven't talked about it yet'

As the Almeida production transfers to the West End, we sat down with Andrew Scott, Jessica Brown Findlay and Robert Icke to find out more

Following a sold-out run at the Almeida, Robert Icke's modern take on Shakespeare's Hamlet has transferred to the West End.

Ahead of the show's official opening night we sat down with Andrew Scott (Hamlet), Jessica Brown Findlay (Ophelia) and director Icke to find out more about the piece, how they've made it more accessible and whether or not Shakespeare was bad at writing women characters.

In her five-star review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton said Scott provided "an outstanding performance on a truly memorable night."

The cast also includes Juliet Stevenson who spoke to us yesterday about how she had never wanted to play Gertrude until speaking with Icke. Read the full interview here.

Hamlet runs at the Harold Pinter until 2 September.
