A musical about the troubled life of Amy Winehouse may be in the works.

Winehouse's father Mitch spoke to The Sun at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Gala last week, where he said "a musical celebrating her life and music is being talked about for the near future."

The show, he explained, would be "for the West End" and would be with a view to showing how she developed her music. "It's something I'd really like to happen and I've said I'm happy for it to go ahead," he added.

The singer died in 2011 at the age of 27 of alcohol poisoning. In her brief but extraordinary career, she won six Grammys, a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist and three Ivor Novellos. It's likely that her tumultuous relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil will also feature in the musical.
