Further to our recent story on the musical version of The Addams Family coming to London, we've heard further whispers that it might be heading for the St James Theatre, recent home of another Broadway import, Urinetown.

A representative of the venue told WhatsOnStage:

"The authors of The Addams Family are in discussion with producers for a London production in 2016, as WhatsOnStage reported in January.

"The St James Theatre is not at this stage in a position to provide any details on this production but can advise that a press statement will be issued by the appropriate means in good time."

The mention of a "press statement" is obviously a heavy clue, and suggests that confirmation is due imminently.

The Addams Family, which proved a box office hit in New York despite a mixed critical reception, is based on the family of characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams, including parents Morticia and Gomez, children Wednesday and Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and butler Lurch.

The show, which premiered in 2010, features music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

Should it prove a hit at the St James, it will surely follow Urinetown's example with a West End transfer.
