Images have been released offering a first look at Joe Hill-Gibbins' production of Absolute Hell.

Rodney Ackland's play returns to the National Theatre, where it was performed in 1995 starring Judi Dench, who won an Olivier Award for Best Actress as Christine Foskett.

Absolute Hell is set in a Soho drinking den after World War II and the piece caused a scandal when it was first performed in 1952.

The cast includes Charles Edwards, Kate Fleetwood, Sinéad Matthews, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Jonathan Slinger and Danny Webb.

They are joined by Esh Alladi, Elizabeth Andrewartha, Ashley Byan, Jonathan Coote, Rachel Dale, Carole Dance, Joanna David, Patricia England, Jenny Galloway, Frazer Hadfield, Aaron Heffernan, Simon Hepworth, Lloyd Hutchinson, Martins Imhangbe, Stephanie Jacob, Fiz Marcus, Connor Mills, Anita Reynolds, John Sackville, Liza Sadovy, Eileen Walsh and Jade Yourell.

The production has design by Lizzie Clachan, costume by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting by Jon Clark, sound by Paul Arditti and music direction by Harvey Brough.
