So Jonathan, what is your favourite…

Film?

Very tricky. I love films. Right up there is The 39 Steps, both the Robert Donat version directed by a young Hitchcock – it’s masterful, romantic and I never tire of seeing it as it fills me with a warm glow every time – and the Robert Powell remake is pretty good too. Also worthy of a mention is The Sound Of Music. I always used to think that Christopher Plummer was my real father and that I had been adopted! But over all top my film of the moment is Les Choristes, translated as The Chorus. A beautiful French film set in a boys home come borstal, and a quirky teacher who arrives and sets up a choir which becomes transformative in their young lives.
