Hampstead Theatre has announced its latest production, a revival of Theresa Rebeck's Seminar, which will run at the Swiss Cottage venue from 1-18 October 2014 (previews from 25 September).

The play will star Roger Allam as Leonard, a former celebrated novelist turned cantankerous editor, teacher and grandstanding chronicler of third-world war zones, who is tasked with mentoring four aspiring young writers.

The production will be directed by Terry Johnson, with design by Lez Brotherston. Rebeck's play was first seen on Broadway in 2011 with Alan Rickman playing Leonard.

Roger Allam was last seen at Hampstead in 2007's The Giant. His recent theatre credits include The Tempest and Henry IV Parts I & II (Shakespeare's Globe) and Uncle Vanya (Chichester Festival Theatre). Screen credits include The Book Thief, The Iron Lady and Tamara Drewe.

Full casting for the production is to be announced.
