The Sound of Music announced as 2014 Christmas production for Leicester’s Curve Theatre

A brand new production of the award-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical chosen for the Leicester theatre’s Christmas show.

For the last five years, Christmas shows at the Curve Theatre have received critical acclaim, from Hello, Dolly! to the King and I, 42nd Street to the current production of Chicago.

Today, the Leicester venue have announced that their production for Christmas 2014 will be a brand new production of the award-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music.

Directed by Curve Artistic Director, Paul Kerryson, The Sound of Music will open on 3 December 2014, with previews from 28 November, and runs until 17 January 2015. Casting is yet to be announced.

Set against the idyllic landscape of the Austrian Alps, this heart-warming tale follows spirited young nun Maria and her relationship with the Von Trapp family. With a timeless score including "Do-Re-Mi", "Favourite Things" and "Climb Ev’ry Mountain", this global phenomenon continues to enchant audiences across the world.

Tickets are on sale to Curve members from Wednesday 8 January and on general sale from Saturday 11 January 2014.
