Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's musical, which is currently running at The Playhouse following runs at Chichester Festival Theatre and Hampstead Theatre, stars Sharon D Clarke as Caroline Thibodeaux, a poor black maid in a Jewish household, and her complicated relationship with eight year-old Noah Gellman.

The piece is directed by Michael Longhurst, with designs by Fly Davis, choreography by Ann Yee, musical direction by Nigel Lilley, lighting by Jack Knowles, sound by Paul Arditti.

Guests at the opening night included stage stars Beverley Knight, Amanda Abbington and Jonjo O'Neill, as well as Love Island winner Amber Davies – soon to appear in upcoming West End musical, 9 to 5.
