Wau Wau Sisters’ Last Supper

Assembly @ George Street
7-30 August, 22.40

Cheeky, irreverent and boasting a remarkable physical prowess, the Wau Wau Sisters’ Last Supper is the perfect way to end an Edinburgh day. Straight from the achingly cool New York burlesque scene and delicious circus group La Clique, T&A (Tanya Gagne and Adrienne Truscott) are mistresses at whipping their audience up into a state of a befuddled revelry.

We enter and are given communion wafers by two catholic school girls who proceed to get a little bit fruity (to say the least). A no-holds-bared opening leads to a raucous evening that mingles quick one-liners that would make a stand-up jealous, with eye brow raising acrobatics and old school vaudeville audience participation.

Whilst Wau Wau Sisters’ Last Supper is a magnificently silly show, it packs an emotionally powerful punch because at its heart it is thoroughly reclaiming burlesque for what it used to be, not mindless titillation but winking female empowerment.
