Gutted A Revenger’s Musical

Assembly Rooms
12-29 August, 23.15

Little Sorrow was orphaned when her parents were murdered. Flash-forward: grown-up Sorrow marries for revenge. It is payback and pay-up time for the family she marries into. Think, Agatha Christie‘s Ten Little… (insert whichever politically correct word works these day), The South Park version. Billed as The Comedians’ Musical, it is perhaps more comedy than musical.

The humour (Danielle Ward and Martin White responsible for book, lyrics and score) is the darkest shade of black. The songs are entertaining and tuneful. The production, a little rough around the edges, romps along..

As the revenging angel, Helen George is wonderful and the supporting troupe of comedy performers is equally strong and very funny. The cast includes The Penny Dreadfuls, Jim Bob from Carter USM, Lizzie Roper and Colin Hoult. They all look as if they are having fun. And we do too.
