Steve Coogan presents Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards on Saturday

Former winner Steve Coogan will present the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards on Saturday (24 August).

Coogan, who scooped the prize, then called the Perrier Award, in 1992, has since gone on to become a household name thanks largely to his comic creation Alan Partridge.

He’s currently topping the UK film charts with Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Coogan will present the prestigious awards, now in their 33rd year, alongside 2012’s main winner Doctor Brown at a lunchtime ceremony at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh.

The panel of judges will have seen a record breaking 600 eligible shows over the course of the Fringe to determine the winners.

The prize money for best comedy show is £10,000 with £5,000 each for the Best Newcomer and the Panel Prize winner.

Other former winners include Frank Skinner, Jenny Eclair, Lee Evans and Daniel Kitson.

The shortlist will be announced on Wednesday (21 August).
