Steps' Lee Latchford-Evans to star in Eurovision spoof

The actor/singer will host a Eurovision song contest at the Pleasance as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Lee Latchford-Evans, notably known from being in the nineties pop-band Steps, has joined the cast of Eurobeat Moldova, a new show premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

Latchford-Evans (Latchboy, Edinburgh Fringe) will play Nikolae Nikovskywill alongside Rula Lenska (Dr Who, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) who stars as Katya Kokov. The pair will jointly host the Eurovision spoof.

Eurobeat Moldova features new songs by Craig Christie and Andrew Patterson and will include 'entries' from UK, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Netherlands, Ukraine, Morocco, Norway and the Vatican. Hosted by Moldova, hosts Katya Kokov – a former KGB spy turned television presenter – and her side-kick Nikolae Nikovsky – winner of Moldova's Got Talent – are sure to make it a night to remember.

Live text voting will take place at the end of every show with proceeds going to Waverley Care, Scotland's HIV and Hepatitis C charity – which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of a fundraising partnership with Pleasance – and Dickens Legacy.

Commenting on his role, Latchford-Evans said: "I am so pleased to play Nikolae Nikovsky and star alongside an icon like Rula! It’s a very witty script with some fantastic musical numbers that are produced to a very high standard. This is a show that has to be seen to be believed and I know the audiences in Edinburgh are going to have a blast. I can’t wait to go back to the Fringe and let Nikolae loose at the Pleasance Grand."

Lenska adeed: "Delighted to share the stage with the gorgeous and talented Lee. It's going to be a blast, fasten your seatbelt daaarlinks!"
