15,000 watch Edinburgh International Festival opening event: first look photos
The month-long festival kicked off with Five Telegrams by Anna Meredith and 59 Productions
Photos have been released offering a glimpse at Five Telegrams – the opening event of the Edinburgh International Festival, which took place last week.
15,000 people gathered to watch the outdoor event, a 25 minute piece composed by Anna Meredith and created and directed by Richard Slanley of Olivier Award-winning company 59 Productions.
Made up of five movements, each one focused on an aspect of communication during World War One, the piece featured a multi-media show with light and projections mapped onto the façade of Usher Hall.
We live-streamed the event on Facebook on Friday, you can watch the video back below.
