Comedian in Gaddafi Costume Attacked at Fringe

Comedian Jeff Mirza’s controversial yet topical choice of costume to promote his show, Jeff Mirza’s Jihad! Heresy or Hearsay, caused quite a stir at the Fringe recently.

The comedian, sporting a Colonel Gaddafi costume, had a glass bottle thrown at the back of his head while flyering between Cowgate and the Royal Mile.

He said, “Most people at the Fringe get the joke of me being dressed up as a washed up dictator trying to sell the show” and expressed his gratitude that the majority of Fringegoers were able to appreciate his intentions.

The man who threw the bottle was described as white, slender build, average height, wearing a stone washed grey T shirt, early 30s with a tattoo on the back of his neck. Despite having reported the incident to the police, Mirza said, “The attacker in no way represents the vast majority of Fringe audiences”.
