The event was a co-production from Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales

Roald Dahl fever took over Cardiff city centre this weekend, as Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales celebrated the 100th anniversary of the novelist's birth.

City of the Unexpected ran throughout the weekend with processions, pillow fights and a giant peach among the highlights.

Born in Cardiff in 1916, Roald Dahl's children's novels, including The BFG and The Twits, have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide. Stage productions of his books Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are currently running in the West End.

Other events celebrating his centenary include Les Infants Terribles and Bompas & Parr's Dinner at the Twits, and a production of The Witches at West Yorkshire Playhouse.
