On the day that England manager Roy Hodgson has announced his squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, the Bristol Old Vic has confirmed casting for its production of World Cup Final 1966.

The play, billed as a "a funny, affectionate look at this epic moment in footballing history", will run throughout this year's 2014 World Cup, which starts on 12 June.

Legendary goalie Gordon Banks is being played by Les Bubb (Harry Potter films), alongside Bristol Old Vic regulars Stewart Wright, Zara Ramm and Tom Wainwright as Ray Wilson, Geoff Hurst and Alan Ball respectively.

Kyle Lima plays Jack Charlton, while Roy Weskin, who starred in the original BAC production of World Cup Final 1966 ten years ago returns in the role of Bobby Charlton.

Neil Haigh (as Nobby Stiles), Brian Hargreaves (as Roger Hunt), Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins (as Bobby Moore), Karla Shacklock (as Martin Peters) complete the squad and Glyn Grimstead takes the role of manager Alf Ramsey.

Bristol Old Vic artistic director Tom Morris helms the production, which is suitable for ages "8 to 108".

According to press material: "We can say with complete confidence that at Bristol Old Vic at least, England will win the World Cup this summer."
