Last Friday's visit by HRH the Prince of Wales to the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds proved a successful as well as enjoyable occasion. Prince Charles met performers, both professional – the Ballet Black ensemble –and from a youth group , as well as the theatre's adminstrators, patrons and trustees. he also saw extracts from two very different dance ensembles – Orpheus by Ballet Black and Dance East's primary school programme funded through his own Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts.

Artistic dirtector Colin Blumenau comments: "It was a pleasure for us to welcome His Royal Highness to the Theatre Royal last week. He seemed delighted at the restoration of our Georgian playhouse and was deeply interested in the architecture and the style of the house. Without our many sponsors, funders, restoration appeal champions, patrons and loyal staff and volunteers we would not survive - His Royal Highness was able to talk to many of them personally during his visit.

"The press and public response to his visit has been great and has raised our profile both locally and nationally. This can only increase awareness of our work. We look forward to audiences booking for Dangerous Corner , which opens ton Thursday 10 March, and contining to help us cheer our 1819 playhouse and 2011 producing company of actors."
