Guilty Pleasures tour cancelled on opening night.

The opening night of Guilty Pleasures in Bournemouth on Thursday may have been an extremely successful one, but the cast woke up on Friday to emails telling them that the entire three month tour had been cancelled.

 

It was only two weeks ago that one of the leading members of the cast – Marc Bannerman, of Eastenders fame – suddenly walked out of the production, but he was swiftly replaced by stage and TV star Darren Day.

 

A spokesperson for the producers of the show, said: “It is with regrets that Theatre Productions have taken the decision to cancel all forthcoming dates on the tour of Guilty Pleasures with immediate effect. This is due to extremely poor ticket sales”.

 

One of the stars of the show, former Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat lead Craig Chalmers also issued the following statement to his fans and friends:

 

“I’m really sorry to tell you all that, despite a great reception at the opening night, the Guilty Pleasures tour has been cancelled. I have had an amazing few weeks working with the cast and crew and we had all worked very hard to produce a great show. All the cast, including myself, are surprised and disappointed at being informed of this news.

 

“Thanks to everyone I worked with on this project. It was a great experience with a really professional and talented team and I will miss them. I am very disappointed, as I believed in the show and was enjoying myself immensely, but I am upbeat about my acting possibilities after the positive feedback about the portrayal of my character from the director, writer, and fans whocame to see the show in Bournemouth.

“Thanks also to my loyal fans who had bought tickets for the next couple of months. I’m taking a few days off, then I’m looking forward to new projects, the next of which is ta gala concert in Cardiff on 13 May”.
