Doctor Who to crash-land in Ipswich this summer

The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich is justifiably all cock-a-hoop over securing its part in the London Cultural Olympiad (part of the London 2012 Festival). A new Doctor Who adventure – The Crash of the Elysium will be staged as part of this year’s Ip-Art Festival between 15 June and 8 July by Manchester International Festival, the London 2012 Festival, the New Wolsey Theatre and Ipswich Borough Council supported by Arts Council England and Suffolk County Council.

It has been created by Punchdrunk, pioneers in immersive theatre and is a live Doctor Who theatre adventure in which the audience is the star of the show. There will be performances for schools as well as for families and older audiences. New Wolsey chief executive Sarah Holmes and Borough Council leader David Ellesmere both welcome the project, which it is hoped will bring new audiences into Ipswich as well as captivating its present ones.
