International Tours For North East Writers
Having killed off Margaret Thatcher in Maggie’s End, which played London’s prestigious Shaw Theatre in 2009, the duo’s dark comedy The Revengers will have a two-week run at the Barons Court Theatre in West Kensington from 9 to 21 May 2011.
The Revengers is about a former television sex symbol fallen on hard times and whose life is turned upside down when a sinister loan shark appears on the scene. The play, which premiered at the Customs House, South Shields, in 2006, was produced in Chesterfield in 2009 and takes a London bow courtesy of actor/director Simon Nader who appeared in the London run of Maggie’s End.
Dirty Dusting, which starts a 40-date tour of New Zealand in May, toured extensively in Australia last year as well as playing to full houses in Glasgow, Inverness and South Shields.
An English production of Dirty Dusting will play Middlesbrough Theatre in May, preceded by a week’s run in Chesterfield and Peterborough.
Trevor Wood said: “We can’t wait to get back to London. We had a great time with Simon during Maggie’s End, which played to 2,000 people, and we know The Revengers will go down a storm.”
On Dirty Dusting’s continued success, he said: “It’s already played to around 350,000 people worldwide and it just gets more and more popular.”
