Sweeney & Peters Dreaming of White Christmas at Lowry

Claire Sweeney and Wendi Peters, will take on the roles of Betty Haynes and Martha Watson in the spectacular stage musical based on the classic 1954 movie White Christmas which arrives at the Lowry next month.

Claire, is a familiar star of stage (Guys & Dolls, Shout, Fosse, Chicago) and screen (Brookside, Clocking OffLoose Women) and has recently finished performing the title role in a UK tour of Educating Rita.

Joining Claire on stage at The Lowry this Christmas will be Wendi Peters playing the role of Martha Watson. Wendi is probably best known for her role as Cilla Battersby on Coronation Street but has a wealth of experience on stage (Follies, The Vagina Monologues, Grumpy Old Women, The Mystery of Edwin Drood). Another Coronation Street star Steven Houghton is also on board, alongside Dallas actor Ken Kercheval (Cliff Barnes).

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical returns for five weeks only following a critically acclaimed, record-breaking sell-out run in 2009 when the show made its North West debut at The Lowry.

With an ensemble of over thirty and a 17-piece orchestra, and brimming with classic Irving Berlin hits like “Blue Skies”, “How Deep Is The Ocean”, “Happy Holidays”, “Sisters” and, of course, the unforgettable title song, the show  tells the story of two buddies putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn, and finding the perfect romance along the way.

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical was first staged in the UK in 2006 and is at the Lowry from 29 November 2012 until 5 January 2013.
