Strictly Gershwin Brings Nostalgia to Northwest

Strictly Gershwin is a dazzling homage to George Gershwin, the big band era and the razzmatazz of the thirties.

Gershwin’s famously sassy tunes have been adapted by Gareth Valentine and Derek Deane‘s choreography conjure up the Silver Screen genius of the dynamic double act of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The full Company of 67 dancers will tap, twirl, jeté and glide their way through a series of Gershwin classics performed by a live jazz orchestra designed to get the toes tapping.

The show includes favourites like “Summertime”, “Fascinatin’ Rhythm”, “The Man I Love”, “Lady be Good” “‘S Wonderful”, “Shall We Dance” and “Strike up the Band”, performed all performed by English National Ballet’s star dancers including the much-celebrated Daria Klimentová and Vadim Muntagirov, Elena Glurdjidze, Arionel Vargas, Dmitri Gruzdyev, Erina Takahashi, Fernanda Oliveira and Begoña Cao.

Derek Deane is also on directing duties with Music and Lyrics provided by George and Ira Gershwin, set design by Roberta Guidi di Bagno and Lighting Design by Howard Harrison.

Strictly Gershwin is at the Palace Theatre Manchester from 12 – 15 October and the Liverpool Empire from 1 – 5 November.
