Sonia Hughes Returns to R.E with 0.0008

Writer, Poet and performer, Sonia Hughes returns to the Royal Exchange with 0.0008, a world premiere, which has been developed following last year’s sampler performance in The Studio’s showcase BLUE 6, it opened yesterday (press night tonight) until 18 July.

When the universe is a million million million million light years edge-to-edge – or would be if it had edges – how come our thoughts and feelings matter so much? Comparing the age of the universe with the time mankind has occupied the Earth why does it matter what we do, how we do it, how we feel, what people think of us when we’re just a small fraction of the time?

Using lighting, sound and imagination, this intriguing and intimate show asks the big questions.

Hughes is well known for work that challenges traditional theatre forms and the relationship between artist and audience. During her years as a performer she built a reputation for her powerful stage energy and storytelling talents.

Her most recent success is Song Of Songs that she wrote and directed, which was performed earlier this year at Contact and then on national tour. Other credits include Susan & Darren (as writer) for Company Fierce/Quarantine and Weeding Cane that was performed in The Studio at the Royal Exchange in 2006 before embarking on a national tour.

The creative team is completed by Mark Distin (Lighting) and Claire Windsor (Sound).
