Sister Act Adds Liverpool and Seeks A Star
The musical has an original score by Alan Menken with lyrics by
his long-time collaborator Glenn Slater. Patina Miller won the 2010
Whatsonstage.com Award, and was nominated for an Olivier, for Best
Actress in a Musical for the part played in the original 1992 film by
Whoopi Goldberg, who is co-producing the stage version and who made her
West End debut this year stepping into the role of the Mother Superior
(originated on stage by Sheila Hancock and played on screen by Maggie
Smith) for a limited season.
The producers are currently looking for a new leading lady to take on the role of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier.
First round open auditions for black, female comedy actresses, with fabulous singing voices with a strong belt, and playing age of 20 – 40 years old will take place on Monday 4th April at Pineapple Dance Studios, Langley Street, London WC2H. Hopefuls should register between 10am to 12pm and bring a CV, recent photograph of themselves and at least one rehearsed disco or pop song to perform (sheet music or track welcome).
