Rainbow’s Steph Fearon plays Dorothy at Lowry

Following success in BBC1’s talent search Over The Rainbow, a former contestant on the show – Steph Fearon finally gets to play Dorothy in a touring version of The Wizard Of Oz which arrives at the Lowry on 13 April.

New World Productions’ version of the classic tale arrives in Salford as part of a UK Tour. With help from their new friends the Munchkins, Dorothy and Toto to travel to the Emerald City where the great Wizard of Oz lives. On their way they meet a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who desperately needs courage. Will the wonderful Wizard of Oz be able to help them before the Wicked Witch of the West captures them in her dungeon?

The cast also includes includes Bobby Davro as Scarecrow, Sarah-Jane Honeywell (CBeebies’ Mighty-Mites,  Tikkabilla) as Glinda, CBBC Presenter Ben Hanson (Bouncer in Tracy Beaker) as Tin Man, Rob Forknall as The Wizard, Jimmy Burton-Iles as Lion, Danny Mills as Squeaker, Kate Richards as The Wicked Witch who join Fearon  as Dorothy.

The score features “Over the Rainbow” and “Ding Song – The Witch Is Dead”, as well as other well known songs remembered fondly, as a result of the 1939 film starring Judy Garland.

The Wizard Of Oz is at the Lowry on 13 April at 2pm and 6pm.
